Von Trapp Children Audition
The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company is holding child auditions for our upcoming production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. This production is part of OCTC’s professional series and will be performed with the Ocean City POPS. This audition is specifically for the VON TRAPP CHILDREN. No adults will be seen at this time.
Auditions will be held at the OCTC Studios (1501 West Ave. OCNJ 08226) on Saturday April 30th, and Sunday May 1st from 10am – 2pm. This audition process is geared for kids that have previous theatre experience.
You must register for an appointment in order to audition. Register below!
- Photo or Headshot (any photo from the waist up so we can clearly see your face)
- Resume (if available). You can also list any previous performance experience or anything you would like us to know about you in the submission form!
You need to sing EITHER Edelweiss OR Do Re Mi.
You will be asked to read the following scene: Audition Scene
- ***Does not need to be memorized.
If cast, you must be able to attend all rehearsals and performances.

All children, apart from their character description must be able to be conservative with their emotions and “serious.”
***The role of Liesl von Trapp will be played by a member of the professional company.
Friedrich von Trapp (age 13-15) Eldest son of the Von Trapp Family, shy, intimidated by his father
Louisa von Trapp (age 12-14) Second eldest girl, wants to be older than she is, a bit of a troublemaker and prankster
Kurt von Trapp (age 10 -12 falsetto) Middle son, proper, kind, sensitive
Brigitta von Trapp (age 9-11) Independent, direct, like her sister, Louisa, can be a little bit of a troublemaker, stubborn
Marta von Trapp (age 7-9) Second youngest, quiet, follows her siblings, charming
Gretl von Trapp (age 6-8) sweet, gentle warm and open; the baby of the family
